Stephen Schmelling

I am a retired employee of the US Environmental Protection Agency, who has been living in Santa Fe since 2012. I was a Master Gardener Intern in 2013 and became a Master Gardener in January 2014. I have participated in many different projects, but particularly enjoy AAMG, where I have worked at the Railyard for the past six years. Since childhood, I have lived in and gardened in several areas of the United States including Wisconsin, California, Upstate New York, Oklahoma and now, New Mexico. Each location presented its own challenges and opportunities for gardening. I was the Project Coordinator for the SFEMG during 2019 and 2020. I will be the Membership Chair during 2023. I have enjoyed being on the Board and working with the other members to try to build a successful organization. I think that maintaining our membership and keeping the members involved is critical to the organization’s success.
