PROJECT: EXTENSION OFFICE HOTLINE ASSISTANT (EOHA)
Project Description
Santa Fe Extension Master Gardeners volunteer to research and answer questions, diagnose problems on plant specimens, and identify insects brought to the Santa Fe County Extension Office. They also respond to calls received on the Master Gardener Hotline (505-471-6251) and staff the SFEMG Office several hours a week March through October. Answers and recommendations are based on current research from the NMSU extension program, other land grant universities, the USDA, and the Botanic Gardens. In all cases, they advise Integrated Pest Management (IPM) – treating chemical controls as a last resort.
Project Goal
To build on what was learned in the Master Gardener Intern Training and pass along reliable, research-based information to the public as well as other master gardeners.
Hours and Locations
Master Gardeners and Interns volunteer Mondays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 pm April through September; Volunteers will be in the Extension Master Gardener office in the Small Annex at the Fairgrounds, 3229 Rodeo Road.
